Anillo solitario con granate

Hoy quiero enseñaros mi primer trabajo de clase. Este año he decidido matricularme en la escuela superior de joyería para obtener el título oficial, dado que ya tengo un pequeño bagaje en este mundo después de cuatro años como aprendiz en un taller.

El anillo consiste en un sencillo solitario con la pequeña dificultad de engastar una piedra con solo dos grapas, en este caso un granate de 3,5 mm de diámetro y talla brillante. El matizado del aro tiene un papel importante en el resultado final, ya que el punteado encaja muy bien con la simplicidad que quise darle a todo el conjunto. Un anillo sencillo pero elegante. Today I will show you my first school assignment. This year I decided to enroll for jewelry school to get the official degree, since I have already been working as an apprentice for the past four years.

The ring consists of a simple solitaire, with the slight difficulty of setting a stone with only two staples, in this case a 3,5 mm wide garnet, diamond cut. The ring's dotted texture has an important role in the final result, since it fits nicely into the simplicity I wished into the set. A simplistic yet elegant ring. Aires de Africa: El colgante

Esta nueva entrada va dedicada a la última pieza de la colección Aires de África: el colgante. Esta última pieza es la más extrema de todas en cuanto a medidas. La bata de plata exterior de 41 mm de diámetro contiene un disco de madera de 39 mm donde va ubicado el perfil del continente africano. El caucho que sostiene el colgante es de 3 mm de diámetro y tiene la particularidad de que pasa por debajo de la pieza cambiando así la tradicional forma de pasarlo por encima de la pieza. Aquí el contraste de la plata rayada y la madera de ébano con sus vetas el resultado es muy bonito y curioso.

This new post features the fourth and last piece in the African airs collection: the pendant. This necklace is the most extreme piece, regarding its dimensions. The external silver coat is a 41 mm wide ring. Inside it there is a 39 mm ebony disk, on top of which the profile of the african continent is placed. The rubber supporting the pendant is 3 mm wide and, instead of running on top of it the classic way, it circles the pendant, breaking with the traditional way of designing necklaces. The contrast between the soft streaks of the ebony and the sharp streaks in the silver is, as usual, very pretty and curious.

Aires de África: Los pendientes

                                   

La entrada de hoy es una nueva pieza de la colección Aires de África: los pendientes. Estos, como las otras piezas, están realizados en ébano y plata. 

Similares a la pulsera en forma, los pendientes son un poco más pequeños (20 mm de diámetro). La plata recubre la madera por delante, dibujando sobre ella la silueta de África, y haciendo que ambas texturas contrasten de una forma muy interesante (el matiz rayado de la plata frente a las suaves vetas del ébano). El cierre es de presión, ya que el conjunto no tiene un peso excesivo. Espero que os gusten, y si queréis poneros en contacto conmigo hacedlo a través del e-mail que hay en el blog.

Today's post features a new piece in the collection African airs: the earrings. Just as the rest of the collection, they are made of silver and ebony.

Similar in shape to the bracelet, the earrings are a little smaller (20 mm wide). The silver covers the wood, silhouetting Africa on it, and the textures contrast in a very interesting way (sharply streaked silver versus smoothly streaked ebony). Aires de África: la pulsera

Esta nueva entrada es la continuación de la colección Aires de África. Hoy es el turno de la pulsera. Aquí la plata juega un papel más importante que en el anillo, buscando de nuevo el contraste entre metal y madera.

La pieza central es un embatado exterior de plata de 21mm de diámetro que recubre toda la madera de ébano. De este modo la protege a la vez que dibuja sobre ella la silueta del continente africano. La pulsera se sujeta a la muñeca con dos tiras de caucho de sección redonda, que se unen a la parte central a través de dos arandelas. El matizado es rayado para jugar con las vetas de la madera.

This new post features the second piece in my new collection, African airs: the bracelet.
Silver plays a bigger role here than it did in the ring, seeking again to contrast metal and ebony.

The external piece is a silver shell 21 mm wide that covers the ebony disk below, protecting it at the same time that it silhouettes the African continent. The bracelet is attached to the wrist with the help of two round black rubber bands, that hold the pendant through two rings. I gave the silver a streaked texture, so that you may appreciate the different streaks of both the silver and the wood.

Aires de África: El anillo

La entrada de hoy es sobre un anillo que sirve como presentación a una nueva colección : Aires de África.

Compuesta por anillo, collar, pendientes y pulsera donde se juntan la plata y el ébano para crear unas piezas diferentes a la joyería más convencional.

El anillo consta de un disco de ébano de 21 mm, con un caparazón de plata que protege la madera por los laterales y por la parte de abajo, de 0'7 mm de grosor. Encima de la madera está la silueta del continente africano, también realizada en plata. El aro del anillo es simple. La plata tiene un matizado rayado y el ébano esta pulido, así se consigue un curioso efecto al estar la plata rayada y las ver las diferentes estrías de la madera. Today's post features a ring that is also the introduction to a new collection: African airs.

It is a set of ring, necklace, earrings and bracelet, where ebony and silver coexist, creating an ensemble that has little in common with traditional jewelry.

Today's ring consists of an ebony disk, 21 mm wide, that fits into a silver shell, 0,7 mm thick,  that protects the sides and back of the wood. On top of the wooden disk rests the African silhouette, also in silver. The ring itself is quite simple. The final texture is nicely curious, since the silver is streaked and the ebony is polished, you can appreciate the different streaks of both the silver and the wood.
